Just completed a long overdue upgrade of pone.social to Mastodon v3.3.0.
We're now completely up-to-date.
All ready for the server move.

Initial sync of videos off of S3 is complete, now just waiting for the new dedicated server to be ready. According to my order, that should be by end of day today, so fingers crossed

Currently I am performing a sync from the videos stored on S3 to a local drive on my EC2 instance, this may cause some slowness in UI performance for both pony.tube and pone.social over the next few days.

Once the new server is available (soon™️), I'll begin setting up an instance of pony.tube there.

Once that's up, I'll be shutting down pony.tube and beginning the transfer. This may take a while and includes a database, video files, config, and even DNS transfer.

In order to reduce costs to a more manageable level, I am moving pony.tube (and probably pone.social) from AWS cloud to a dedicated server.

This should also improve performance as the specs on the new machine are significantly better than the virtual machine we have now.

Over the next few weeks, both sites may experience some downtime - maybe even for a few days. I'll try to keep downtime to a minimum.

Pony organizing day

With hosting costs getting near $500, I finally broke down and made a Patreon for Pony.Tube.
The costs seem to keep going up, and if it remains at this level I simply won't be able to afford it much longer.
I really don't want that to happen, I love how this site has become a place where people can share horse videos and not worry about them being taken down for no reason.

also, pony.tube was experiencing some temporary storage issues, should be corrected for now.
